Dancing Mantis

I spotted this praying mantis by our door grille this afternoon as my sister shouted “Look! Don’t you wanna take a photo of her?” I was wondering how she knew that it was a female and I asked her, to which she said because it has chubby frame. So, female it is :P This girl was kinda cooperative and did not shy away when I pointed my lens on her, and that was why I managed to take nearly 60 photos of her in a span of 10 minutes or so. She was practically turning herself around twirling like a ballet dancer on one of the horizontal grille bar before attempted to further crawl up the iron grille :).

Irresistible

I have not been a fan of anything made from/of yam. But, I couldn’t resist this chinese steamed yam cake. Soft, fragrant, tender and simply mouth watering. The three of us had one each and I finished mine in just three spoonful :P. I am drooling all over again when I look at the pix :). *Yums*

Someone wants to take udon challenge!

As much as I could remember (280611), I suggested to the boss that we skipped breakfast that morning instead to have heavy lunch. We used to have heavy breakfast and eventually not knowing where to land our feet for lunch with a half full stomach. That morning, we walked a lot and we were almost famished before Sushi Kings open its door at 11am :P. No doubt, we were the first customer that morning dining for early lunch.

As much as the boss loves dining in Sushi King, I’ll give this post a go like a first timer :) Upon getting ourselves a seat next to the sushi making counter, with the hope that we could tell the man what sushis we would love to have, as they were only a few selections running along on the conveyor belt. But, we didn’t because the hungry cannot wait :P.We had Tori Karaage and Kani Tama Maki at once.

I was gobbling down in a jiffy *hunger attack* and it was a rare sight for the boss :P. As much as he loves to tease me, he suggested that we should go for the Big Bowl Udon Challenge! Well, that’s a typical banter from him :P So, did we? Of course not :).

We ordered 2 sets of meal to be shared. These 2 sets were almost equivalent to four sets of meal but in a smaller scale. Hehehe. I picked Salmon Don Set whilst he opted for Don Don Set. I heart this batch of menu as they came in combination.

Salmon Don Set came with a bowl of sushi rice with fresh salmon slices, sprinkles of sesame seeds, shredded cucumbers, omellete and a dollop of garnish wasabi (we were big fans for wasabi). Besides that, it came with a mini bowl of udon with beancurd and spring onions. Perfect for Japanese food lovers who opted for variation within a meal and I am loving the tinge of vinegar in the salmon rice :).

As for Don Don set, it is a combination set of steamed rice with chicken nuggets with spicy sauce and mayonnaise and another bowl of steamed rice with prawn and vegetable tempura along with the miso soup and chawanmushi (egg custard).

Oh yeah, lastly are the seasoned Japanese radish to go along with the steamed rice. Ahh, I am drooling over Japs food now :)

Sparklicious Sparkling Affair

Since young, I was exposed to the fact that gold doesn’t tarnish and it has been prized for its beauty, resistance towards chemical attack and high workability. But, I have definitely overlooked the fact that they can be dulled over the time by the oil excreted by our skin, cosmetics, body lotions and so forth. Since necklaces were prohibited during our school days, I started to put on mine right after I graduated from my high school and have never taken off since then. My necklace still sparkles until today and I was adamant that my necklace has not dulled after so many years and I do not need any cleanser or any alike detergent.

Only until recently, when my mom brought her necklace for its hook fixing, my sister took the opportunity to clean wash her necklace. Upon touching home, when I compared mine with hers; my oh my, I have no way to defy the fact that my still-sparkling-necklace has dulled by so so much. I had been kinda planning for a trip to the goldsmith since that. But before I managed a trip to the goldsmith, my sister gifted me a bottle of jewellery cleaner from Powermax (a Cosway product) as a birthday gift and I gave that a try that very evening.

Believe it or not, my jaws went dropping and this bottle of magic liquid were truly magical! It keeps its promises as claimed on its reverse side of the bottle. The added advantages on my point of view were its quick action, causing no skin allergy to my sensitive fingers and applicable for costume jewelry too (It worked equally significant from the reviews I read/saw. I have yet tried it on my own collection. Based on my previous and my only experience with previous jewellery cleaner many years back, I have no way to clean my tarnished costume jewelleries as it was only applicable for pure gold and authentic silver). This also explains why I have never been bothered with this earlier despite numerous visits to Cosway outlets :). But, this is indeed a wonderful experience worth sharing and you can save by 50% by owning a bottle of jewellery cleaner than visiting a goldsmith for one cleansing session ;)

Crispy Crunchy Goodness

This golden brown crispy and crunchy goodness was my all time favorite. I am not sure what it is called though, but it’s certainly yummy. It’s flaky but soft, with a little tinge of sweetness; definitely addictive. I have been hunting high and low and I finally found it at a bakery selling all kinds of home made cookies and cake at the new shopping mall nearby my home. Thanks to the festive season. Absolutely don’t mind of polishing of the whole packet of 7 pieces at one time. *such a gluttony* :)

Happy Feet

That morning (300711), the moment I alighted from my bed, I have a good feeling towards chocolate color. Then I recalled I have new brown flats under my bed, still sitting inside the box. It took me a good few minute to rummage among all bags and boxes under my bed. Yes, I kept all my newly bought stuff under the bed until I find the time assigning them a place in my wardrobe or cupboard ;P.

So, I put on new flats that morning, after my mom assured me that they don’t bite (based on her experience). My mom and I shared quite a number of similar design foot wear, so from to time to time, we will consult each other before we fare ourselves putting them on for the first time. Unfortunately, we don’t share similar experience over similar designs :).

Before I left the house, I remembered to replenish the plasters in my purse and true enough, half way walking through the first hour, it started to bit me on the side and back side of my left foot (it always happen to the leftie). Not wanting to whine so much as I know the boss will definitely tease me with a i-told-you-so look (as always. Hehehe) so I sneakily hop into the Crocs (so called i.e pasar malam's Crocs) stall at Asia City Complex and gotten myself a pair of slippers when the boss was spending some quality time in the hobby outlet while I had mine strolling around the complex before we were off to the airport that evening with a church friend, who we bumped into in the hobby outlet, who happened to be the boss’ teenage friend but surprisingly, they have just found out that they can actually click along and sharing same love towards scale modeling in common:).

When I changed into the slippers at the airport and showed them to the boss, obviously he perceived the moment I sneaked into the stall but one funny thing was; when I was looking for him after my shopping, he didn’t noticed me going into the hobby outlet passing in front of him as he was so carried away chatting with his friend and they left the outlet for a drink after that while I was dawdling through the racks of figures inside the outlet :P.

Registering August

Where have the first week of August gone to? I barely had time to register it was here before it flew by. I was caught with a nasty cold on Monday evening, I guessed it was among my worst experience ever. The house and car were fumigated with nasty viruses. Worse, I have to carry a leaking nose and sore throat to work for the whole week. Oh yes, did I mention that I am already working? Well, I am not sure if I can actually regard myself as working or spending the holidays wisely and I’ll talk more about it someday :).

Somehow, I am glad that at least, I did two things that made me feel good inside out. First, I managed to proofread 5 chapters for a friend’s thesis on solar car in 2 days, a future technology baby everyone will want to own one someday. I am so glad that I managed to get it done while trying to juggle a balance between work and quality sleep :).

Secondly, I managed to spring clean my wardrobe. Finally after so much of procrastination, I am finally letting go cloths which I didn’t see the need to wear any of those which had been occupying the wardrobe space for dunno-how-long. Some were totally new, some have been worn less than 2 times. I'll just have packed them aside, and my mom will take care of the rest (i.e whom to give, where to send) and she has the name of recipients in mind beforehand :).
