22 Months

Abby turned 22months (1y10m) last 20th June 2016.

Weight
10.3kg based her check-up with the clinic on 220616.

Height/Length
Not measured.

Teeth
Still 16 pearly whites. No signs of new pearly whites coming out yet.

Motor Skills
  • Can hop like a bunny, jump like a joey according to the song.
  • Other nursery rhythms she loves: Row, row, row your boat (with actions of propelling an oar), A ram sam sam (with actions).
  • Loves shoes. She would never hesitate to try her feet onto my heels and her daddy’s leather shoe.
  • She has gotten the hang of the ‘guessing game’ by hiding something under her palm and requesting us to guess (080616).
  • Able to put on her shoes rather steadily and independently.
  • Finally, she is willing to sit on the potty. However, we only do this once in a blue moon.

Communication and Social Skills
  • Showed interest toward numbers. When I say one, she would go ‘two’, me saying three, she would follow with ‘phor’. When I say five, she would repeat ‘five’, and followed with ‘eight’ (her favourite number). Sometimes, she would mumble random numbers as she plays.
  • Speak a mixture of English and Hakka, which she picked up from the in-laws. Sometimes she put them both together. For instance; “mm-moi NO” (protesting and saying NO in both Hakka & English)
  • Can fake snore to indicate ‘sleep’ or when asked to.
  • Can compliment by saying ‘good’ with her thumb up, ‘nice’.
  • Says ‘put down’ (the bowl) when she insisted us to allow her to self-feed, saying ‘up down’ together whenever she goes up or down the stairs.
  • Other words she can say and comprehend: door, walk, hop, dirty, wash, ‘ae-pooh’ for apple, eye.
  • Says ‘plea’ for please, and ‘elp’ for help whenever she needs help or wanting something from others.
  • I noticed she ‘talks’ more whenever we return from our trip, as if she has a lot to share to the in-laws :). She was such a happy chatterbox (in her own languange and comprehension) when we returned from our CNY trip, and this time she babbles a lot more upon returning from our KK/Miri trip.
  • We have finally managed it to decipher what she meant by ‘ah-pook’ during our one week trip to KK/Miri. I dont know what she was trying to say but she definately requesting for us to put her down to let her walk at her own pace.

Emotional Development
  • She would come near to show her concern and blow to the area when we are grimacing in pain and expects to be treated the same when she knocked or hurt herself.

Food and Feeding
  • Super light eater. She barely, or never had her full three meals as she rejects rice/porridge. She loves noodles and finger food.
  • There was one where she requested the food Ah Tai was eating. Hence, they fed her with fish. Half way eating, we were shocked when she picked out and handed the piece of clean fish bone from her mouth to be handed to aunt-in-law (030616).
  • A clean freak. Despite loves eating with her fingers, she would exclaim ‘dirty’ and ‘wash’, requesting us to bring her to the washroom almost immediately.

Her Firsts
  • Had her first haircut from home by walk-in hairstylist, who coincidentally came over to trim Ah Tai’s and MIL’s hair (230516).
  • Her Hello Kitty bottle I ordered from Tupperware has finally arrived. As expected, she was head over heels and downed quite a bit of water from her ‘kitty’ bottle (290616).
  • Discovered floating objects.
  • Discovered how to “make bubbles” by filling the basin hanging hole with water during her shower. When the hole is filled with water and produced glassy rounded, thin liquid enclosing the hole, she would happily exclaim “bah-boos”.
  • When she first saw deh-deh’s automated Lego technic bulldozer (310516), she quickly hid her face under the pillow like an ostrich. But, today she has been conquering the remote control and enjoys maneuvering it.
  • First visit to Miri during our KK trip from 6th – 12th June 2016.
  • Had a ball of time at the ‘ball pit’ in Suria shopping mall (070616).
  • Spent the longest hours in an airport. Our flight from Miri to KK was delayed from 6am – 10pm!
  • First met aunty Joyce, my uni bestie during her wedding in Miri (110616).
  • It was no longer a struggle to ask her sit on the potty. She first pooed inside a potty (160616).

Sleeping Patterns

  • She can sleep in for a longer stretch these days. She can also be left with deh-deh while I prepare breakfast during weekends.

Father's Day 2016

This is the second year the boss got promoted as Missy’s daddy aka deh-deh. On the Father’s Day itself, we made an effort for a simple do where we the younger generation took over the cooking at Ah Tai. We managed to whip up fusion meal consisting of pork rib chops, pasta with oriental mushroom meat sauce, homemade chicken balls, and salad handpicked from the backyard and mushroom soup.

The boss and Missy had been good friends lately and they even team up in many things :) Thinking back of the phase where Missy rejected anyone including her deh-deh but just wanted me all the time, she has grown up so much and today, they make up a good team. Here's a video proving how much she adores her deh-deh. Each time she goes up the stairs, she would be calling her daddy and making sure her deh-deh is trailing from behind.

Thanks to her daddy, Missy is so obsessed into any vehicles (be it bicycle, tricycle, lorry, truck, concrete mixer or crane) now *roll eyes*. She calls them ‘poot-poot’ and claims her ownership towards all her deh-deh’s Lego technic series. Foregoing her Duplo the days, she has gotten herself so engrossed and 'helpful' with her deh-deh's projects. Here's her helping herself with daddy's LEGO Ghostbuster Firehouse :P

To the men who can move mountains: Happy Father's Day, daddy, papa Pang & hon. Thank you for being the best daddy, grandpapa & husband :)
