30 Months

Abby celebrated her 30th months (2y6m) last 20th Feb 2017 with a chesty cough and mild fever in the polyclinic.

Weight
Not measured (It was on a yo-yo state ranging between 12.3 – 12.8kg)

Height/Length
Around 92cm.

Teeth
Still 16 pearly whites.

Motor Skills
  • She loves snipping stuff with a scissor and I allowed her to do so most of the time, with supervision. But, my concern perked up after she snipped off the pacifier which she used to play with :o (220117)

Communication and Social Skills
  • Words she can say: Pocket, teapot, headache
  • It was a funny sight when she has mistaken tomatoes as “tou-(pause a while)-tou” and capsicum as “kiwi”. LOL (010217).
  • She can slightly reiterate incidences. She spilt her aunt’s essential oil diffusing liquid in the car during an outing with her aunt and grandaunt. She told me that she has “spilt da-choo’s water”. When I prompted further on what was her da-guh’s  reaction, she raised her tone and say “A-B-B-Y!!”. LOL (020117).
  • She amazed me by singing ABC song (to which I have not introduced her on alphabets just yet) – 030217.
  • Can roughly cite her prayer with help. She would usually start off and say a number of things that she was thankful off for the day (120217).
  • Chanced upon an old unwanted pack of my sanitary pad and claimed: “mommy’s pampers”. When I told her that I no longer use that, she said “put it away” and placed the packaging in one of daddy’s box stash (120217).
  • Can negotiate. Eg “I want this one, please Mommy. Bibi wants Hello Kitty’s car” (120217).
  • She refused her popo to wipe away her reward stamp she got from RE class by sternly saying “NO Wipe!” (120217).
  • Simple sentences she managed to form/made up:
  • Eg. “Cat on the roof house” (130217)
  • “Find nice nice shoes to church” (150217)
  • “Mommy buy some more. Daddy finished it. Baby hungry” LOL (the moment she discovered an empty Pringles’ can in the bin – (170217).
  • “Not done yet. Daddy wash some more” – insisted that she still feels slimy and not thoroughly cleaned during a shower (180217).

Emotional Development
  • She shows fear when it rains and claiming she is ‘scared scared’ of the grumbles in thunderstorm (210117).
  • When I mentioned to her that I am having a stomachache, she would rub her palms and place it on top of my naval repeatedly (150217)
  • Developed a habit to ask for something after seeing other kids having it i.e “Mommy, I want a Mickey Mouse hat too”, “I want Pikachu bag”.

Food and Feeding
  • She used to love strawberries and enjoyed sucking the juice and spit the pulp but all of a sudden, she claimed that strawberries are ‘so scary’ (220117).
  • She was down with a chesty cough and mild fever on 190217. She rejected milk and refused to sleep for the whole night but only bob-bob can pacify her.

Records
  • We were very keen to enrol her to a nursery nearby our place just to get socialise around and introduce her importance of instruction taking but the idea was to hold off as FIL and AIL find that toddler at this age shouldn’t be bothered by too many restrictions and these will come in naturally later (070117).
  • Loves all sorts of non-girly stuff like aeroplanes, helicopters etc.
  • Got a new pair of sandals with light. She was so happy and insisted on bringing them to sleep (150217).
  • I have relocated the baby crib and set up a mini bookshelf replacing our bedside table to keep Missy’s bedtime story books (160217).
  • Broke the fourth Avent glass bottle since birth – (170217).
  • She joined me at a dinner event one evening at my workplace. There were many kids running around and she tried to evade some kids by walking on the grass path and almost fell into the big uncovered drain! Thank God that she only grazed her knee (170217).
  • She has been independent for the second time at church’s RE class. She was able to tell her favourite jie-jie when she needs to use the toilet. :) (190217).

Her Firsts
  • Despite having travelled as an infant for numerous trips, she finally had her first ‘big girl’ and had a seat of her own on our CNY trip back to my hometown. She has proved all my worries were unnecessary (290117).

  • First time playing with her q-q's 'antique' lion head and started asking us to get one for her.

  • First kindy hunting and visit. She was particularly drawn to its playground area which was located at the car porch (010217).
  • Had her first droning session with daddy at home. She called it a ‘helicopter’ (200217).

Fashion
  • She is very much into dresses/pants with pockets lately and insisted on wearing outfit that comes with pocket only (220217).
  • She loves her Minnie Mouse spaghetti top courtesy of her Aussie grandaunt. She was obsessed with it to the extent she wanted to wear it damp when I have just taken it out from the washing machine (210117).

Sleeping Patterns
  • I bought her a patchwork ABC hanging deco. She refused me from hanging it and claimed it as her ‘ABC blanket’ instead (210117).
  • Her recent bedtime favourite book – Emergency Room.

Toilet Training
She can tell when she needs to use the toilet/potty during the day (300117).

Abby Sings: ABC Song

Missy surprised us with her self-learnt ABC song. We have not started her with any of the ABC alphabets yet. The rate at which she picks up a new song really amazes me. Probably it’s time to polish up her letter sound at the same time to inject some fun in ABC learning soon if the little girl accommodates though :P
