31 Months

Abby turned (2y7m) last 20th March 2017.

Weight
13.2kg

Height/Length
Around 93cm. She has been rather obsessed with her height and wanted to be measured all the time after she learnt that she can go on a horse ride when she's bigger/taller after our visit to the Cowboy's Town :)

Teeth
Still 16 pearly whites.

Motor Skills
  • She loves playing with ladle, scoops and whatnots akin to them (230217).
  • Able to turn the doorknob to open a door and latch to lock the door too. Grandaunt was once trapped inside the washroom and luckily this girl remembers to unlatch it from outside (150317).
  • Still very much into doctor play. She took my velcro and wrap it around her head and pretended that she has bumped her head (190317).
  • Able to draw swirls (200317)

Communication and Social Skills
  • She had a fun Lego train session with daddy on the 210217 when daddy’s Lego railroad has just arrived in the mail. This little girl was both excited and anxious when the train she was manoeuvring from the controller was having slight hiccups. She went “train broken again!”, “Oh no mommy, it’s so hard!”, “Oh no, it’s stuck”, “It works, it’s moving again”, “No move, no go round and round” from time to time (21-220217).
  • Among the sentences she ever said which caught our attention:
  • Eg. “No more water coming out. Daddy fix it air-cond” (No more water dripping from the air cond in our room, and the credit goes to her daddy).
  • She called me during my work trip informing me she is having a fever. She said “Mommy, Abby fever. Hot hot. Eat kopok (i.e keropok)” (060317).
  • “Mommy, video not working” (070317)
  • During prayer, she would say thanks of a few item/incidences she favoured most for the day. Eg “Thank you, Lord, for the Lego train, Vitagen and egg-egg (Kinder Joy Surprise egg)”
  • Can vaguely utter the first complete phrase “wo men zai tian shang de fu” and last phrase of “The Lord’s Prayer” in Mandarin (120317).
  • “Thank you, mommy doctor” after I applied mosquitoes repellent on her body (110317).
  • “Mommy, so fun. Help mommy zip”. She had fun when I asked for her help to zip my dress (120317).
  • “Playground no open. Use key open” (190317).
  • “Mommy, got battery!” when I told her that I may need to replace the batteries in one of her toys, overlooking the on/off button until she pointed it out and switched it on and the best part was the batteries were working fine.
  • She surprised me by being able to recognise a few shapes which I have never taught her. She grabbed a stencil ruler on the floor and name diamond, square, triangle and circle while pointing to the shape accurately (160317).

Emotional Development
  • This drama princess loves using ‘Oh-no’ with full expression.
  • When she senses something is not right, she’ll quickly apologise earnestly “Sorry mommy, sorry daddy” :P
  • Still having separation anxiety when we drop her off in the morning (sub-conscious state) but when I talked her off (despite many suggested that I should just hide and go), she will be all fine most of the time. In return, she would say “Mommy come back fast fast and say hi Abby”.
  • Sometimes, when she went off to her grandaunt’s place and was sent back to the in-law whilst having us to wait for her return, she would say “Abby come back quick quick to see mommy”. Such a sweet talker she is.
  • She stopped me from packing my work clothing into the luggage bag. She knew I was packing for work without her (040317).
  • During my work trip, she cries each time we talked over a video call.
  • She is showing her attempt to garner courage when I dropped her to the RE class. Although it may not be a successful attempt all the time she has been progressing slowly yet surely. She would usually show positive outlook and say “Mommy coming and say hi Abby” (She knows that I will be back to pick her up with a Hi)

Food and Feeding
  • Mommy relented for once and has given her a single piece of M&M chocolate after much persuasion. LOL (090317)

Her Firsts
  • First visit to the flying club with deh-deh. She was so excited and has been exclaiming “Mommy, I want the red helicopter”, “Oh no, wheel broken”, “airplane, come down. Baby sit inside airplane” and basically reiterating whatever she sees/feels (180317).

Fashion
  • In contrary to when she was younger, she loves wearing a cardigan, and sometimes has been requesting for it at the church (170317).
  • She abhors it when I attempted to place her lock behind her ear with a big “NONONONO” (190317).

Sleeping Patterns
  • She would happily get up in the morning by declaring “Baby wakes up” when she sees mommy and daddy are still lying on the bed (260217).
  • Her recent bedtime favorite book – Jack the farmer. She requested me to buy her the vet book of the similar series which was featured on the back cover of the book (040317).

Toilet Training
  • She can tell when she needs to use the toilet/potty during the day. Nevertheless, her grandaunt still put her own disposable diapers during the day when she was being with them. While she is with me, she will go totally diaper-less during the day. Although I have been secretly hoping that we could train her tandemly, but I don’t mind as long as everyone is comfortable with the idea :).

Work Trips & Deh-deh's Birthday

I have been outstation for work for quite a bit in the first half of March. It was a benchmarking visit to Labuan from the 4-7th March 2017 earlier, and another trip to attend a workshop conducted by Microsoft the following week from 13-15th March 2017. Missy had a bad time during my absence and cried pitifully each time we chatted over video calls. In contrary to usual work trips, I decided to fly back the same day the course ended, exactly on the boss’ birthday. It was almost 9 pm when I reached home and it was too late for me to plan for anything, even to bake a cake. I was able to grab a tablet holder for the boss onboard (Air Asia merchandise) as a birthday pressie. Hence, I decided not to bake any cake this round but bring SIL along for a joined celebration the following night (SIL’s birthday) over a Japanese buffet spread at Zen Japanese Cuisine.

Here are some of the random shots I took during my trip to Labuan, the pearl of Borneo. What worth mentioning were my first experience on a speed boat, my unusual amount shopping for chocolates (along with Missy's surprise eggs) which have never been my favourite nor ever existed in any of my shopping lists, and a North Indian dinner fix at the Mehfil Restaurant.  To my surprise, I fell in love with Ferrero Rafaello almond coconut treats. Probably it wasnt anything near to the typical 'chocolate chocolates', instead, this sibling of Ferrero Rocher features creamy almond coconut with vanilla cream.

No luck to go on the  swing as it was a wet morning

Happy belated birthday, hon & Abby's deh-deh/dad/daddy/papa (yes, Missy started calling us with variety names these days). We thanked God for giving us another year of sunshine and love and may the Lord shower you with His love today, and with His care forever :)
