Conversation: Money in my Pocket

I used to jot down our exact conversation in her monthly progress report, sharing the same post as her motor skills and emotional development, feedings etc. This little girl has been rather chatty these days, hence a separate post for some of her witty responses before they slip off my mind and also for us to have a good laugh together when she’s grown up.

Snip, snip, snip

She loves snipping with a scissor and I only allowed her to snip on my expired Cosway magazines. She came to me with a cut-off image of sanitary pads from the magazine and excitedly ran over to me. This is our conversation with my 32mo (200417).

Abby: Mommy, same same (as) mommy(‘s) (while showing off the image she cut-off from the mag)
Mommy: Oh really?
Abby: Yes, mommy. Abby buys for mommy.
Mommy: Oh, that is very nice of you. But, how are you going to buy them for me?
Abby: Put inside trolley and use the money.
Mommy: Oh? Do you have any?
Abby: Yes, inside my pocket.
Mommy: (teasing her) Hmm, but I don't see that you have any pockets.
Abby: Mommy and daddy have pockets!

32 Months

Abby turned (2y8m) last 20th April 2017.

Weight
13.2kg (measured on 200317).

Height/Length
Not measured

Teeth
Not checked

Motor Skills
  • Loves taking part in the laundry by spraying the pre-laundry detergent before doing our laundry (290317).
  • Loves snipping with her scissors. Occasionally she will come out with her imaginative figure to which she called as whale, dolphin, and ladybug (150417).
  • Has garnered the ability and courage to ‘dive’ down a slide (160417).
  • She loved my pointy permanent marker pen and willingly does literally any task with that pen (160417).
  • She was caught in action by taking his deh-deh’s necktie and she cheekily exclaimed: “My jumping rope” (170417).
  • Developed a bad habit of opening the fridge door frequently, to the extent her deh-deh took the effort to DIY-lock the fridge by making use magnetic hook and name tag ropes :P (170417).

Communication and Social Skills
  • There was once when she was watching Xiao Tai Yang and after watching the kids dancing, she decided to dance along and said: “Mommy hold hands, NO handphone”. Oopsie, bad mommy :P (210317)
  • Among the sentences I caught her saying these days:
  • “I want to get something first” - 210317
  • “Baby wakes up also” (The moment she just got up and wanted to tag me downstairs) - 210317
  • She loves seeing me pick her up at the door, or waiting for her RE class to dismiss at the entrance. She would say “Mommy come back fast-fast (from whatever excuses I gave her i.e work, groceries etc), baby happy”.
  • She has the tendency to pronounce all sort of verb with ‘s’ sound (230317).
  • She refused to cooperate whenever she’s not in a comfortable state (i.e sunny, damp cloth etc). When she was asked to sing Five Little Monkeys, she declined by saying “No, cannot sing. Hot” (240217)
  • No longer calling the laptop as ‘work-work’. She can call them either computer or laptop.
  • Mixed up between upstairs and downstairs. “My laptop is upstairs” while she was in the bedroom on the upper floor (250317).
  • “Baby’s house beautiful” when she saw the workers are done with our roofing replacement (260317).
  • When I first tried wild orange variant on the diffuser (Doterra eo), she commented “Mommy, smells gooood” (280317).
  • Other words she can say: mushroom, slippery, ‘two-ma-toes’ (tomatoes), coconut tree as ‘animals’ tree’ (as in the lone tree of her farm animals toy set), roller skate, bandage.
  • She took her box containing alphabets puzzles out and shoved it to her daddy and asked “daddy, what’s this?”. Her daddy reads “U is for unicorn” and continued to comment “Hmm, this is misleading kids to believe in unicorns”. Upon hearing that, she came up with “Oh, this is lousy one” :P (060417)
  • Her exposure towards the name of animals has widened since I introduced her to the card games featuring various type of animals. But, she still gets few names mixed up from time to time i.e jellyfish as octopus, quail as a parrot, squirrel as a vulture, butterfly as a bee, caterpillar as a snake. (110417).
  • I am still cracking my head on introducing Mandarin to this little girl when I can barely speak passable Mandarin myself. When I casually questioned her what is ‘yan zing’? She answered me ‘Big bird’. Aigoo (160417).
  • On another occasion with her scissor, (I only allowed her to cut no other paper sources except Cosway magazines, and she recognized them very well) she cropped out one of the products I am using at home and said: “same same (as) Mommy’s, Abby buy for mommy”. When I prompted further and asked ‘how?’, she responded: “Put inside trolley, use money”. Mommy asked ‘You have any?’ The cheeky little girl then said “No, cos Abby has no pocket, Mommy. Daddy has pocket” LOL (320417).

Emotional Development
  • She knows exactly how to fish for sympathy. There was once when I pinch her on her knee for misbehaving, she pretend limping and fished for the concern of popo and grandaunt. LOL (220317)
  • Finally became a good friend of gu-po (Aunt Evelyn from UK) after a long week of warming up (230317).
  • She woke up before we sent her off to the in-laws. Hence, I pre-empted her enough that I need to work and I will be back so that there wouldnt be any drama during the seperation and I am glad she waved me as we leave (300317).
  • Her terrible two has been prominant lately, and she got acquainted with Mr. Rotan for the first time  this month (130417).
  • She has been making it a point to put on her shoes all the time after deh-deh shown her the video clip featuring ring worms attacking a kitten’s foot (140417).
  • Upon receiving compliments from us, she would go ‘mommy happy, daddy happy, no sad” LOL (150417).

Food and Feeding
  • She is rather imaginative even during mealtime. She ‘made’ a car out of the fried fish fillet during dinner. When I asked her where were the wheels, she gave the bottom part a few bites to trim out the shape of the wheels (240317).
  • Came out with funny ice-cream combination to which she named it ‘capsicum carrot ice-cream’ with her popsicle stick and fruit cutting toys (240317).

Her Firsts
  • Had our mini made shift ‘obstacle courses’ and we had fun. This little munchkin was so sporting and had so much fun (230317).
  • We have officially enrolled her for K1 next year exactly on the day she hits 32 months mark (200417).

Records
  • Broke the mercury thermometer at Ah tai and gave yeh-yeh, daddy and uncles a hard time to handle the metallic element. It was first detected by popo who felt unwell and almost suffocated with bad headache (290317).
  • Received her first personalized book (310317).

Fashion
  • She insisted for change once her shirt got even a little wet (so like mommy) :P
  • Got a new watch (blue Little Pony) to match with her outfits (220317).
  • Received another watch (pink Mickey Mouse) from gu-po and claimed that “this is better” (230317)
  • There was once she wanted to wear a drsuess repeatedly and Mommy couldn’t reason with her to change to another one. So, I decided to button the first button and when she couldn’t pull it down through her head, she obliged and finally claimed that it was “too small” (evil grin) – 260317.
  • She received a Supergirl tee-shirt from her aunt. She associated Supergirl with flying and finally came with a decision “go airplane wear this one” after she learns that we will be traveling a bit in a couple of months (280317).
  • Requested to wear her ‘turn turn turn’ (flared) skirt to sleep (050417).

Sleeping Patterns
  • During her prayer, she is able to say thanks on a few things she received or happened that day (240317).
  • Her recent bedtime favorite book – The Potty Book, Usborne Farmyard Tales, Pippa Poppa, Things People Do (Usborne)
  • There was a night she slept on the floor next to her new trolley toy (210317).

Toilet Training
  • She has been loving the ‘Potty Book” as her bedtime picks (220317).
  • We attempted to let her go diaper-less at night and our attempt was a successful one (010417). This is certainly our motivation booster to continue with our diaper-free mission. Abby was rather cooperative too as she claimed that diapers ‘made me hot’ :)
  • On the following night (020417), she was all dry the whole night but not during her afternoon nap :P
  • She remained dry at night until the 4th night consecutively till (040417) before she wetted the bed for the first time at night (also on the following night). Nevertheless, this has not deterred us from making our mission a possible one. Our king-sized waterproof mattress protector has been a great help ;)
  • We decided to put her on diapers for a couple of night for her to have better sleep throughout the night when she was down with cough and flu and as predicted, she didn’t wake up for her milk fix at all the whole night (080417)

Arnab Village

26th December 2016 (A backdated post)

After checking out from our chalet in Nepenthes Lodge, National Park. We decided to visit the rabbit farm in Ranau in two cars. But my parents, bro and sis in the other car decided to detoured and return to KK not long after the massive congestion from the National Park’s entrance up to several miles ahead on the way up to Ranau but we had no choice as that way the only route home. Missy has been chanting that she wanted to go to the ‘zoo’, she finally dozed off while we were still stuck in the congestion.

The rabbit petting zoo, Arnab Village is located at Kg. Purakugis, approximately 12km from National Park on the right. The ‘zoo’ was located further in from the junction. When we have eventually arrived, the boss was contemplating whether to wake Missy up but I insisted as I know this little girl will not stop chanting ‘I want to go zoo’ the moment she wakes up. Hence, I gently woke her up and to my surprise, she was up and about instantly and couldn't wait to barge in.

After we have gotten our entrance ticket with a small fee of RM2 (adults only), we waited no longer but to get into the rather new attraction.  It was really hot by then but luckily, there was some shaded area for us to stop by. We went straight into the rabbit pen where rabbits roam freely. Abby had a good time petting the rabbits and even attempted carrying them.
Tickets are ready!

Abby was a little apprehensive at first

Beginning to warm up

 We are friends!

Look at its length!

The small enclosure helped us to get around easily with a reasonable array of different breeds of bunnies. The big hit of it was the ability to get around with the furry friends in such close proximity. Being able to held them one after another was definitely going to turn out to be one of Missy’s best childhood memories :).  Apparently, the enclosure was in the midst of upgrading progress and we will definitely be returning in the near future.
