  • Able to beads her bracelet steadily.

Communication and Social Skills
  • After she came back from her first-day orientation in kindy, she has been asking me “why do we have bend down during a fire?” (271117)
  • Upon coming back from her third day of orientation in Kindy, she has been singing a Chinese song over and over again which she has learnt during that day’s one-hour session of Chinese songs (291117)
  • “Why boys need to wear pants?” (281217)
  • “Why shark has to be in water?” (021217)
  • “Why so smelly? (and continued upon  discovering the reason) Oh, my daddy eating chewing gum” (021217) She then followed on with Johnny Johhny yes papa song (interrogating daddy if he is eating chewing gum). Lol
  • “Why people running on the road?”(021217)
  • She pointed at her cold syrup with I fed her with her medications and claimed: “this one made me so tired” (011217).
  • “Why boys need small toilet? Why need small one?” upon seeing the urinal when we passed by men’s restroom in a restaurant (181217).
  • “Why is the arrow going up, up, up?” upon seeing the forward sign of a traffic light (191217)
  • “Look, got instructions!” she exclaimed excitedly when she discovers a manual inside my parcel (021217).
  • She requested me to hand her the Hello Kitty teapot set which she usually takes with her during the shower to which I cannot find. This little girl then asked me to “look poporly (i.e properly), mommy” (021217).
  • While waiting for the hub to get a parking space, we waited at the hospital’s lobby when we visited MIL, Missy chanced upon a landscape in between buildings and commented: “Nice forest, mommy” (021217).
  • She handed me a sticker all of a sudden despite me not knowing what have I done to deserve that “Mommy, I am giving u a sticker because u did well” (031217).
  • Can finally pronounce “which one do you like?” word by word, clearly (051217)
  • “Yellow and red are orange best friend” (101217) & “spoon and fork are best friends”
  • I overheard her saying “oh my goodness” once in a while (161217).

Emotional Development
  • Exactly knows how to convince, reason and persuade whenever she wants something very much.

Food and Feeding
  • Loves ice lollies. Sometimes, this cheeky girl hinted me her wish by saying “I’m feeling hot, mom. Maybe we can have ..... (paused).. ice lolly?” (241117)
  • She discovered a pair of matching cutleries at home and requested me to serve her ‘nice food on a plate’ (specifically emphasized as I prefer to feed her with a bowl) – 081217
  • There was an evening when she asked for second and third pieces of fish slice. I happily offer her forth slices but she rejected me nicely by saying “No thanks, cos me three years old”. LOL (181217)
  • Loves mommy's garlic toast (071217)
Her Firsts
  • Attended her first orientation at her kindy for four days (27-30 Nov 2017)
  • She has been watching Peppa Pigs via YouTube on daddy’s Ipad and for the very first time, she requested “Mommy, I wanna press good (like)” while gesturing a thumb up (091217).
  • We collected her first big girl's school bag at the courier office and she is loving her Tiger Family's bag very much. As for me, I am a happy bunny as if I have hit a jackpot as it is not easy to buy something where both of us likes equally these days :) (121217)
Play n Learn
  • She is into fairies and princesses these days. She requested me to buy her a wand and has been chanting “Magic wand, magic wand, please make my daddy’s/mommy’s face funny/pretty/ (yadayadayada)” (011217)
  • Enjoyed her Lego time with daddy and briefed us on the difference between stairs and ladder she found from the loose stash (011217)
  • Is able to point and count steadily (031217).
  • We learnt about buoyancy. She can differentiate between things that float and sink (031217).
  • Loves pretend play. She has been rather apprehensive towards the idea of going school lately simply because she is afraid of being left by us. I am happy when I overheard her pretend play conversation between mommy zebra & baby zebra (our antique toys at my parent’s place) on the first day of school. I can safely assume that she understands clearly why she is being left at school but adjusting and taking time to combat her fear, hopefully (151217).
  • Books she has been loving at 40mo – Hot and Cold, The Usborne Big Book of English Words (long-loved book), Magic School Bus series

Records
  • Down with a bad cough and the medication prescribed by our regular paed doesn’t seem to work this round (241117). I even returned to the paed and requested for a heavier dose (291117) after getting comments from her teachers that she has been coughing quite badly that morning.
  • Received specially delivered Violet musical doggy plush toy from gu-po (091217)
  • She has been watching quite a number of Halloween YouTube channels and she is afraid to be left alone in the room even for a split second. When I asked her why she said she was afraid of monsters and the haunted house (101217).

  • Upon seeing a small tote bag in Hush Puppies, she hurriedly carries one and exclaimed “this is so small, good for me. And, the colour matches my sam-sam (i.e clothes)” (181217).

39 Months

Abby turns 39 months (3y 3m) today.

Weight
14.8kg

Height/Length
99cm

Teeth
20 pearly whites.

Motor Skills
  • Loves long jump and can jump as targetted (111117).
  • Has been yearning to play the yo-yo like a pro for the longest time. When she saw daddy plays the yo-yo one day, she clapped her hands excitedly (111117).

Communication and Social Skills
  • She is in her Why-Oh-Why phase and among the questions asked were:
  • “why is she wearing music sam-sam (i.e shirt)?” when she sees someone wearing a tee with treble clef image on it (221017).
  • “why on light, mommy?” I replied ‘It is dark, don't u think so? “Yes it is” (281017)
  • “Why daddy needs a belt?”
  • “why ah-poh so fuse? (i.e fierce)” 311017
  • “why there is a bridge?” After we answered her, she followed with “what if they fall?” (111117)
  • When I took off her hairband before the shower, she grimaced and commented “very painful, mom. Tomorrow gentle” (031117).
  • Ah-Tai hasn't been mobile for some time now. One day, Ah-Tai did something out of her norm and this girl complimented her great-grandma “Good boy, Ah-Tai!”. When asked why did she call her great grandma a boy, she promptly answered “cos Ah Tai has short hair” (091117)
  • Recently, she loves the term “best friend”. She often comes with witty remarks like “Mommy, the basin is toilet’s best friend” (101117), “Mommy is Daddy’s best friend”, “Grandma is Grandpa’s best friend”, “Anna jie-jie is my best friend”.
  • “Thank you mommy mending my this one” when she thanked me for fixing one of her vehicle toy (1211117)

Emotional Development
  • We do not have to send her separately to church for Sunday School anymore. We can finally go together and she would steadily wave goodbye to me before I handed her to her favourite 6yo jie-jie (221017).

Food and Feeding
  • I am glad that she consumes lunch and dinner on a regular basis now. Occasionally, this girl would fish for praises from me if I didn't compliment her after she finishes her food. She went “next time I finish my own food, mommy comes and say – wow, Abby, so proud me (I am so proud of you)” (261017)
  • We attended a dinner organised by my workplace at Borneo Cove Hotel. When daddy picked us up that night, she told daddy “Dad, mommy’s tea party so nice; got juice, fan-fan (i.e rice), nyuk-nyuk (i.e meat), but.... jelly not so nice” LOL (271017)

Her Firsts
  • We had our first DIY solution for giant bubbles and had a whale of fun. Even daddy and sook-sook were taken away while playing with it. Yeh-yeh was not exceptional too. However, our first attempt wasn’t ‘stretchy’ enough. Hence, yeh-yeh surprised her with an improvised version of bubble solution (221017).
  • I surprised her with a mini gumball machine and upon discovering it, she was head over heels (231017). We managed to have some educational games with it too.

Play n Learn
  • After the play-dough session, I found her leaving her stuff unattended one day and I asked her to pick them up and reminded her to love her stuff. This cheeky girl finally obliged and responded “OK mama, I love you, playdough” (251017)
  • We made a simple impromptu experiment on “eat ice, heart will get dirty” (how she put it). She has been asking for ice cubes from the freezer occasionally until one day I mix the ice cubes with a little of watercolour and filter with a piece of heart shaped doily paper (to serve as filter paper). In her understanding, the residue retained on the paper after filtration is the dirt retained in one’s heart after consuming ice cubes. This has worked a while for me to refrain her from asking for ice cubes (261017).
  • Has a very short attention span. While she was having Lego time with daddy one day, daddy commented that she has a goldfish’s attention. This little girl then innocently replied “Oh, I like goldfish. Where?” LOL (281017)
  • She has been asking “Why daddy needs a belt?” for so many times now. I finally get daddy to stand and make a demonstration to her on why daddy needs a belt. She seemed to be satisfied with my explanation this time, finally (281017). We have been explaining for countless of times, but this has usually been followed by a why after another before the same question is repeated again and again.
  • Books she loved (apart from bedtime books) – Usborne see inside your body, Jack and the Beanstalk
  • She was able to roughly retell the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to earn some YouTube time (051117).
  • She loves her animal matching cards, to which I have not started with her yet. She has been bringing out several pieces each time she goes out. I am going to crack my head when I have to relocate them when the time comes, only if they are still locatable (081117).
  • Rather observant. We were working on a worksheet together on Buoyancy and I was unsure about an image until the little girl told me that it was a bowling ball. Although it doesn’t really look like one, she noticed the three finger holes to which mommy has totally overlooked and thought it was a button. Lol. We have brought her once for bowling when she was 1 year plus (101117).
  • We have recently got an insect net and this little cheeky is looking forward to catching a butterfly soon. She convinced me and said “Me can catch. Me super strong cos me have bones inside my body” (111017)
  • Sing the opposite game with daddy. When daddy sings ‘put the bunny down down down’ and she will go ‘put the bunny up up up’ etc (131117)
  • When we were revising on body parts on a random occasion (161117), I casually introduce her to the Malay language. I told her that ears are called ‘telinga’ in Malay. She finds it funny and chuckled non-stop. She repeated the rest in Malay after me but by the end of the day, she remembers ‘telinga’ the best.

Records
  • Went for a community service for the first time with mommy (281017)
  • First time meeting baby Isaac (cousin) – 291017
  • Contributed a little to the construction of the ‘Electricity House’ and was beaming proud of it- 131117
  • Participated in RE Year End Performance for the second year (291017)

Fashion
  • After reading many rounds of ballerina related books, she is very into all things princess these days. I put her on a white tutu dress for fitting the night before her RE Year End Performance, she cried and insisted to wear it immediately. When I reasoned to her about her performance the following day, she obliged and pick another dress with butterfly prints on it (281017).
  • Many of the time, she would request to wear her ‘princess dress’ first thing in the morning or after the shower. Rejects pants and tee shirt whenever possible except for her jammies.
  • Likes ponytail hairstyle only. She rejected by saying “I don’t want other hair, no bunny hair etc” (121117).

Sleeping Patterns
  • I thought she was weaning off one night when she requested me to sing her songs after our bedtime stories. She requested me to sing “Give me oil in my lamp” and has been asking questions like “What is burning? Why? What is Hosanna?” before she finally asked, “why you no mode feed me bob-bob?” LOL (221017).
  • Is currently into ballerina related books for bedtime stories. She called it “bandelina” (251017). On top of that, she loves The Usborne-Big Book of English Words (surprisingly not a storybook) as her bedtime fix.
  • She has been very reluctant to read about other occupations besides doctor and the vet until I printed her the job cards featuring various kind of jobs. Her other favourites now are the policeman and fireman (281017).
  • Daddy went outstation for almost one week. When she was with me, she has been a very alert and light sleeper. She would tag me whenever I leave the room an occasionally asking “where are you going, mommy? No go outside” She wakes up pretty easily in the morning and even manage to go for a morning walk with yeh-yeh for two days consecutively (261017)
  • She insisted on her blanket to face up and spread evenly and smoothly around her body the moment she lies down. Once, she requested with a hand gesture like stretching out a roti canai on how to spread her blanket evenly (071117).
  • I am glad that she loves her books. Many times, I spotted her flipping with her books and once, I caught her pretend reading and went “let me read my book first. FARM ANIMAL....” (091117).
  • Recent favourite bedtime stories – Baby Dino, The Usborne Big Book of English Words (particularly page 13 and 27), Mr. Messy & Mr. Skinny (Mr.Men series).

Toilet Training
  • Can safely proclaim that toilet training has been successfully achieved with no accidents and she has been quite independent to go to the potty without being prompted or whenever needed.
  • Next, I am intending to train her to go on an adult toilet independent to prepare her for kindergarten. Time to source for a toilet trainer with a ladder.
  • Her favourite potty-time books are “My New Potty” and “The Wide Mouthed Frog”. She can correct me accurately whenever I deliberated mistakes in my reading (101117).

Conversation: An Electricity House

Missy will usually leave everything behind and started to get herself useful whenever he sees Daddy bringing out his Lego pieces. This round, Daddy made a bungalow instead of industrial and commercial buildings. This girl was smitten with delight when she discovered the romantic building daddy (and her) has been building comes with lighting on top of a sweet combination of pink and purple colour scheme. I overheard their conversation while working on my laptop (131117).

Abby: Daddy, so nice. You made an electricity Lego House.
Daddy: Electricity House?
Abby: Hmmm (started to doubt her statement), let me guess, you made a holiday Lego House.

Growing Crystals at Home

I have a few packets of borax sitting in my drawer. I bought them after Missy requested me to make her slime after watching them on Youtube channel. My colleague suggested me to use laundry detergent (Dynamo for blueish hue) but I was not very keen towards the idea of using liquid detergent for a kid to play with. Clear glue seemed to be a great option but this promise was still kept pending as I got out a little of hand for the past few months before we wrapped up for year-end holidays.

When I googled on other usages of borax for kids, I stumbled upon growing borax crystal and I thought it was great for Missy to somehow know what crystallization is about. Since it requires boiling water, most of the steps were managed by myself including the shaping of pipe cleaners into the shapes and initial of the names mentioned by little lady boss which she wanted to present her crystal to from grandparents, grandaunts, aunts and her little baby cousin Issac.

What will be needed:
Pipe cleaners
Boiling water: Borax (I used a ratio of 2 cups to 9 tbs borax as per recommended from the sources I visited)
String (I used ordinary sewing thread)
Stick (I used lidi sticks)
Glass jar/bottle (heatproof)
Pegs/clips (to fasten the thread onto the stick) - not necessarily needed

Diluting the boiling water with the borax is not difficult, totally contrary to what I have thought earlier. Next, the pipe cleaners will be immersed in the water-borax solution with the aid of a string and stick. Provide some gap in between of the pipe cleaners in case you are immersing more than one, and avoid the pipe cleaner to touch the base of the solution in the jar. Come back the next morning and you will be able to see beautiful crystals. In fact, crystals can be seen gradually forming within a couple of hours. It is as easy as it sounds.

Missy was very happy with her 3 crystal hearts and decided to give 2 of them to grandma (on top of a baby breath bouquet on the exact day - 051017) and yi-yi as birthday gifts because coincidentally October is their birth month and another coincidence, daddy willingly agrees to be her messenger since he will be flying over for work the following day (231017) :).

38 Months

Abby turns 38 months (3y 2m) today.

Weight
14.7kg

Height/Length
99cm

Teeth
20 pearly whites, both upper second molars have finally made their way out.

Motor Skills
Loves playing with mommy’s lip balm (to which she called lipstick) and eyebrow pencil and pretend to put them on her eyebrow and lips.

Communication and Social Skills
  • She was keen to own a mini luggage bag and said “Mommy has big big luggage upstairs, I want a small small one for Abby (myself)” 210917
  • We upgraded her to a big girl’s car seat on her birthday and whenever she chanced upon her old one which we placed in the dining hall, she would try to get in and declare “Oh, this is Mabel’s chair, so small”. If you wonder why Mabel, she has somehow generalised all babies as Mabel, the only baby girl she get to know better who is the granddaughter of aunt’s acquaintance (240917)
  • This little girl loves to frequent Giant because that is the nearest shopping place near home. She saw me wearing a green tee with some curvy letter on it and probably feeling amazed and said “Wow, mommy you wearing Giant sam-sam (i.e shirt)” simply because the green colour has the same scheme as Giant’s and coincidentally Giant’s name was written joined together in a flowing manner too. LOL (240917).
  • This cheeky little girl once commented “silly momma”. When I deliberately look at her and asked ‘What were you saying, could you say that again?’, she quickly answered “nice momma”, grinning away (041017).
  • She saw a group of primary school student going around the housing area with a lantern on the weekend before Mid-Autumn celebration. My curious cat asked ‘why are they playing with a little bit of fire?’
  • She intended to hide the toys to spare herself from daddy’s scolding “put toys at ah-poh’s house, no let daddy see” (071017)
  • Loves giving step-by-step instruction even when she was playing on her own (071017).
  • On another occasion, she pretended to tie her own hair. This vain pot went “first, put rubber band my hand, and put some hair. All done” LOL too bad I didn't manage to capture the video of her (171017).
  • I heard her farted and teased her immediately “Oops, how if you poop on the bed?” She quirkily answered “don't worry, poo poo in potty” (081017)
  • I was helping her to change into pyjamas and apparently, the neck-hole was slightly smaller than her usual ones and she made a conclusion “Oh, my (hair)clip blocked the way” (081017)
  • I handed her a glue stick and she commented “like lipstick, mommy” (151017)
  • Loves to use “too much” all the time to explain huge/great amount instead of “more or a lot”. “I want to play too much bubbles”, “I want to watch the video too much”  (171017, 011117).

Emotional Development
  • Good in convincing. Her tagline would be “Don't worry, trust me”. She has been jumping over my leg one day but I refused to. She convinced me and say “Trust me, me no break your bones” (031017)
  • Still using me as I, and would repeat after us when we corrected her before repeating the same mistake.
  • She wanted to negotiate for some candy but at the same time worrying that she might get “black tooth” after some threatening and eventually resolved by concluding “but this is Vitamin C” (081017)

Food and Feeding
  • Would say her prayers before meal/milk fix without needed to be reminded perpetually. Once, after putting the bottle teat into her mouth, she pulled it out in a jiff and say “Oops, mommy, I ‘gotten’ (i.e forgotten) to ‘ghan xie’ (i.e say thanks)”- 141017

Her Firsts
  • She surprised me for being able to go all on her own all the way to go up the stage (we were seated at the most behind of the hall) to receive her present (3rd prize in kids activity) during my workplace’s Family Day (220917).

Play n Learn
  • I have introduced her to the traffic light colour concept and apparently, she understood and shows great interest and threw us questions like “when can we move?” (Upon red light), “we can go now, why stop?” (when waited for vehicles in front of us to move upon green light), “why need to stop? No red light here” (at the T junction/roundabout) – (270917)
  • Can complete a simple jigsaw puzzle on her own (280917)
  • Can make simple justification based on her observation when we were doing some worksheets on the weather. When she saw a heart image on the girl’s tee shirt, she grabbed a heart doily nearby and put it on her chest and say “I love you, mommy” (151017).
  • She has mastered ‘Rock, Scissor, paper’ and played it with the old-school rhythm Mommy taught her (181017)
  • She is at the age of when her curiosity perks up and her understanding has expanded by leaps and bounds. Whenever she heard any words or saw something, she ask asked you repeatedly until she is fully satisfied. Among her questions I can recall was “What spout, mommy?” (asking me what spout means after listening to I’m a little teapot song – 181017), “why daddy needs a belt?” (to which she has been asking until now despite us explaining numerous times, I have to figure out a better way to explain to our Little Miss Curious soon)
  • She gets dizzy pretty easily inside a moving car. I asked her “are you dizzy?”. She nodded and after a while, she responded “after me bigger, no more dizzy” (181017).
  • Her da-gu rang me up when I was still at work at 4ish in the afternoon telling me that Missy cried and said that she misses me. At home, I told hub about it and daddy teased her. Daddy asked ‘How did you cry?’. “Awuuuu” she answered. Daddy rolled his eyes ‘how come sounded like a dog?’ She quipped instantly “NO, like a BIG BAD WOLF!” ROTFL (201017).

Records
  • Visited a swimming pool for a second time and this time at Western Beach Resort, she has finally garnered the courage to go into the pool and liked it very much (220917).
  • I taught her once and she can tell yeh-yeh’s and popo’s name now (121017).
  • Developed a fever, with cough and flu and thank God she recovered in less than 2 days (171017).

Sleeping Patterns
  • Still bob-bob to sleep despite we hinted her to wean but we decided to let nature to take its course. I released her from bob bob one night and excused myself to the washroom. She was reluctant and asked me to “shh shh here, mommy”. When she was half asleep, I released her from bob-bob and I found her lying down on the floor and waited in dark in front of the door (260917).

Toilet Training
  • She has been rather consistent in keeping herself dry throughout the night, I can say. There was an extended relative who passed me a pack of unfinished diapers one Sunday in the church, I thanked and accepted her kind gesture nicely before my girl running towards me and kept asking me “why need diapers, mommy? NO diapers! I don’t need diapers, I am a big girl now” (011017)

Dear Abby

It was a heartbreaking moment when I reprimanded our girl last night. It was not the first time I get her to stand at the naughty corner nor the first time I ‘rotan’ her for misbehaving. But, it was not easy to explain, re-explain and eventually swinging the cane on her thigh when she actually thought all she did was all right. She has been going out with her grandaunt all these while and come home with a set of new toy almost all the time. We have reminded her numerous times not to buy any more toys prior to this and she even received her punishment because of the similar issue before this but I think it was reasonable enough as she was reprimanded because she excused herself with ‘Abby needs that’ (her favourite tagline these days and usually she will come up to this when she has nothing else to say) or ‘Abby got not enough toys’ (Well, can't blame her totally as we adults are using the same old excuse when it comes to clothing or cosmetics :P). Most of the time, I would listen and eventually tolerated and advised her nicely but I can hardly tolerate to these two reasons when her stash of toys at home is barely played twice!. I was so crossed the moment she said this as if we have not given her to pick her own toys prior to this and not to mention, she already has a few similar sets at home. All we wanted her to learn about being grateful and most of all, not to be greedy and taking things for granted.

Picture was taken on 231017 at Mimpian Jadi Resort in conjunction with my workplace's Family Day. Missy's little wish was granted when my colleague passed by and she was allowed to go up for photographs :)

But last night, granduncle/aunt just couldn't let her go home empty handed as usual. I think the adults might have somehow taught her to tell her to get a toy her mommy ‘would fancy’, as to make her feel less guilty from disobeying. And this little fella without a second thought picked up a cake baking set and happily exclaimed ‘Mommy, I have bought you a present!’ the moment we picked her home last night. Upon reaching home, I explained for a length of time before I whipped Mr. Rotan on her thigh for three times. It was heartbreaking when she non-stop explaining to me that she simply wanted to buy me a present :( She even repeated the same thing when she apologized and hugged me and hub before our bedtime stories. I was shattered deep inside.

In fact, we have reminded her grandaunt not to pamper her too much and we wouldn't mind her going to have a few pieces of chips and relented her to have some ice-cream/chocolates occasionally. Last week, she bought a Little Pony Capsules during her outing (with reminders of not to buy) and I am grateful that she told me everything upon coming home. She told me that grandaunt/uncle asked her to leave her toy at their place in order to be spared from her daddy’s scolding. Sigh.

It is definitely not easy to be a parent these days, huh? I totally understand the reason behind her grandaunt/uncle intention and I know that at the age of 3, I couldn't expect my precious girl to resist her temptations when convinced by her favorite adults either. Dear Abby, Mommy simply hoping that you could grow up in good virtues and faith. You are lucky (in fact too lucky) to be surrounded by so many generous family members around you. But, learning to love God more, learning to appreciate, share and embrace are what truly matters. Love you to the moon and back, princess :)

Pretend Play: Duplo Playground

Someone has constructed a slide, swing, a swimming pool (with float provided) for her ‘Lego friend’, and not to mention a stair-climbing train service chauffering one from a station to another (180717) :)

35 Months

Abby turns 35 months today and will be celebrating her 3rd birthday next month.

Weight
14.4kg (as of 160717)

Height/Length
Around 97cm.

Teeth
16 pearly whites, both upper second molars are making their way through her gums.

Motor Skills
  • She loves playing with her Duplo again after a phase of hibernation (200617).
  • She has great patience and was very carried away whenever she plays with her Playdough set.
  • Apart from doctor play, she is also into dentist play lately. I am thankful that the dentist we previously went was a gentle elderly man. She was not frightened at all and even looking forward to seeing a dentist again in the future.
  • She has finally mastered the skill to blow a toy trumpet (which also requires abdominal tension) which she acquired during our last trip home – (290617).
  • Able to take off her pajamas on her own (090717).

Communication and Social Skills
  • One morning when she was still half awake and I left the washroom door ajar, she commented “too bright” (our room is usually dark/gloomy even in the morning because of the gray shade we had for our walls and curtains) and headed over to shut the door (200617).
  • Able to tell color of an object eg. A black cat, a red car, a yellow flower.
  • Among the snippet of conversation I had with the little vain-pot were;
  • “My nail not pretty anymore. My nail comes out” (230617).
  • “Wow, mommy wears love-love sam-sam (i.e shirt) and fufu (i.e pants)” after she observed that I wore a tee and shorts with heart prints to which I didn't notice myself (230617).
  • “Mommy, be careful. Later fall down break your bones” upon seeing me climbing up high to reach the top cabinets of the wardrobe in our room (230617).
  • During prayer, she said “thank you for kitchen set working” after I installed batteries to her toy stove (020717).
  • She accidentally dropped her newly bought toy guitar and picked it up in a jiffy and happily declared “still working, it’s still working” with a huge grin (040717).
  • We were playing a mobile doctor game together. She needed my help with a short game within a short time span to unlock and entitle her to claim a new tool. I must have appeared anxious when she said to me  “No worry, nevermind. Catch another one, mommy” (it was a  fish-catching mini game at that time). 040717
  • Her new favorite tagline was ‘No, not done yet. Finish my coloring first (or anything she is currently doing)” for shower/sleep (050717).
  • She has been asking for bob-bob one day, and I teased her by saying when can she offer me hers instead. She responded “Not bigger enough, when I get bigger, grow taller, bigger bob-bob, then can bob-bob” (060717).
  • She has been loving water coloring these days. When she saw me fishing out a new watercolor paint set (in fact was a long abandoned), she experimented it with some water she fetched from the sink and exclaimed “Wow, this is not sticky (while poking it with her finger tip). Hehehe so funny (grinning cheekily), mommy buy for me, milk first later do coloring” (060717).
  • She came across to the word “roof” lately when we replaced our roofing at home. When we came across an image of a home during our bedtime reading, she recalled “people fixed my roof. Roof broke down. Now no broken” (070717).
  • There was a night where dogs in the neighborhood were barking almost non-stop. She said “Mommy, dogs..” and I casually replied “Hmm, I wonder what’s wrong” I did not expect my reply has earned me this remark: “Dog has no mommy daddy, very cold, no cardigan”. LOL
  • Spontaneously reply with a “welcome” when she got thanked after (080717).
  • When we were learning about colors, I insisted her to tell the color of the object like a green apple, a yellow banana. When we covered orange, she gave me a disbelief look and said “orange....” LOL. I bet she sensed something was not so right if she were to repeat orange after another orange :P (090717).
  • Thanks to Peppa Pig series, this girl would occasionally make comparison remarks like “Big daddy, small mommy or small Abby” (100717).
  • There was once daddy lied on her bottom and commented “so nice”. While she was so carried away with her Peppa pig channels, she replied “yes, this is so nice!” without realizing that her daddy was actually referring to the ‘pillow’ he was sleeping on, before asking to be released :P
  • Able to remember and convey simple messages. When she saw me packing her clothes to be brought over to the in-laws, she said “Gu-po ask bring panty” – (170717).

Emotional Development
  • Loves the companion of her yi-yi (my sister) during their stay in our house when they came over for church’s orchestral practice. She warmed up herself with other two yi-yis (my cousin sisters) over the steamboat dinner in Sandakan Hotel (240617).
  • She has been so ‘loyal’ and attached to her old musical pony (the one she used to call as ‘little lamb’ half a year ago (270617).
  • She has developed a lot during our recent trip back to KK in June 2017. She got very close to her maternal grandparents/aunt and uncle. There was a night when she had a blast with grandpa/ma until almost midnight and has been a sweet talker too. She wouldn't hesitate to greet them, asking “Grandpa, where are you?”, “Grandma, what are you doing?” from time to time (300617).
  • She is not easily deceived these days. There was once when I attempted to release myself and claim some ME time with my mom, I suggested to my girl that if she follows her daddy and I will buy her something when I return. She was all fine initially until the last second she changed her mind and said “I wanna follow mommy, daddy buys” LOL. (300617).
  • Loves doing things together. Her favorite tagline was “let’s eat/play/pick-up toys together”. When I was baking something in the oven, she came over and say “Hmmmm, pie not yet ting (referring to the sound of the oven’s timer), later eat together” (100717).

Food and Feeding
  • We were glad that she finally consume a little bit of solid food nowadays.
  • It was surprising that she likes the pineapple tart (kuih raya) and was reported to be able to finish a whole mini chocolate bun by herself (050717).
  • Her aunt fed her with some homemade yogurt and she commented “Yikes, so slimy” and always prefer the store-bought one. (180717).

Her Firsts
  • She found her deh-deh’s old school stationary set consisting a mechanical pencil, leads and a double layered (green/white) eraser still intact with new packaging, probably aged more than 30 years ago. She was very happy when she discovered the old-fashioned mechanical pencil still working fine.
  • First wetting the bed since we got home from our KK holiday (130717)

Records
  • She claimed her first fidget spinner, a Minnie Mouse (to compliment her Mickey plush toy from Hollywood’s Disneyland she received from her sook-sook), a Mickey tee and M&M’s Rockstar as a souvenir from Manila from cong-gung (010717).
  • She received another stash of souvenirs also from cong-gung (i.e grand uncle) who just got back from another vacation trip – a fiery red dinosaur, a Mickey mouse on a truck (both batteries operated), another fidget spinner with lights.
  • She has been rejecting the previous toothpaste she has been using for many moons (may be contributed by her uneasy gum too), and I finally get her a Jack n’ Jill in raspberry flavor. She rejected it too for the few nights and is starting to accept the flavor now (020717)
  • Showing interest towards “police videos”  - Youtube video clips featuring policeman characters including Robocar Poli (080717).
  • This little fella has a good memory, and persistent too. She insisted that she was looking for her coin while holding onto another 2. Most of us in the family searched high and low and eventually convinced that she might have remembered wrong or could have not noticed that she was actually already holding on just 2 coins, not until I found the remaining one inside the food waste underneath the used tissues (150717).
  • Can tell the name of all the characters in Peppa Pig &Paw Patrol (her two favorites).
  • She has been obsessed with fancy plasters lately. She scraped her knee on the concrete floor before this and has been requesting for plasters every now and then by claiming that ‘my leg is still a little bit painful, need plaster later bleeding’. There was another occasion when I offered her plaster of smaller size, she said “too small, let’s see (if it was sufficient to cover the affected area)”

Sleeping Patterns
  • Her recent bedtime favorite book – Change a story book (200617), opted for a sticker book activity in exchange for a few nights consecutively (120717).
  • I have recently started her on books emphasizing on moral values loaned from the RE Division Library. She enjoyed borrowing books from the library too (160717).
  • There was a night when she was a little grouchy, probably did not get her afternoon nap. She refused to let me off to get myself ready for bed. So, I said, “If I did not brush my teeth, the germs from my mouth might be going to your face”. She quickly responded “Mommy, brush your teeth quick. Brush hard-hard” (160717).
  • She has been bringing the red dinosaur to bed for a few nights and spinner to bed almost every other nights.

Toilet Training
  • Able to take off her pants and undies to sit on a potty steadily (220617).
  • She is no longer the little girl who needs to be reminded to go on the potty/toilet. There was once when I casually check her skirt as I suspected she might have wet her pants, she refused and said “No, no wet. Deh-deh asked abby shee-shee already” (230617).
  • We were so proud of her that she went dry the whole week we stayed in KK and followed by another week at home (since 2606 - 050717). She has been progressing well with her toilet training so far except with a couple accidents.
